Mobility Yoga in the Grand Victorian Ballroom

Support Small Business Series

The Swantown Inn is a small Mom and Pop, family owned business. In this series of blog posts we want to highlight other small businesses. Some we frequent often, some less so, but if there is a choice between a chain and a local option we almost always go for the local.

Mobility Yoga with Maureen Oar

Remember the Yoga Loft? We sure do. We gifted Nathan a series of sessions and a yoga mat for Fathers’ Day, the year Sophie was born. In fact he was doing downward dog when Casey went into labor and he was called to get her to the hospital for delivery! Our favorite teacher had to be Maureen, or as we knew her, Slow Mo. She is not in a hurry to do anything, and it is always a pleasure and relaxing experience to takeone of her classes.

Maureen’s credintials include 500 RYTE, Certified Yoga Instructor and Educator and Yoga for Cancer Certified. Former owner of the Yoga Loft, she brings a therapeutic approach to classes and believes yoga is for everybody regardless of age or limitations. Yoga is an invaluable tools to help navigate physical and emotional challenges and she invites all to come and explore.

So with this in mind you will not be surprised that we are very excited to announce a new offering at the Inn.

Yoga at the Swantown Inn!

We have dreamt about diversifying our offerings at the Inn, especially since building the Grand Victorian Ballroom. When Mo came to us and talked about using the space for yoga we jumped at the opportunity.

Starting in August (Friday 2nd).

Wednesday. Noon to 1pm: Gentle Back Care Yoga

Students will explore basic movement principles and postures to create stability and flexibility in the spine and major muscle groups. Emphasis is placed on self-sensing and recognizing patterns to promote healing. Suitable for all levels.

Friday. Noon to 1pm: Yoga for Bone Densisty

Recent studies revealed that specific yoga postures (asanas) can maintain and help build bone health. In this class emphasis will be placed on a sense of inquiry and stability with longer holds to generate bone density. This is a mixed level class.
