Support Small Business Series
The Swantown Inn is a small Mom and Pop, family owned business. In this new series of blog posts we want to highlight other small businesses. Some we frequent often, some less so, but if there is a choice between a chain and a local option we almost always go for the local.
Our go to Mexican Resturants, something for every occasion.
Equal Latin
Downtown Olympia: 2752 Pacific Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501 (New Location!)
We have been visting Mexican resturants Maria has worked at for 20 years. She started her own and bought in our favorite waitress Conseula just a few years ago. For starters they offer a fantastic salsa bar. Be careful not to fill up on that! They offer a variety of Latin American dishes, including tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. It also has a full bar, with really generous sizes. Maria even hosts dancing and has created some nice outdoor seating.
Los Tulenos
Located at the Olympia Farmers Market.
Of course this is only open when the market is. We go here when we are hungry! Our favorite is the Don Pepe Burritto, more food than anyone needs in one sitting!
Don Juan’s Mexican Kitchen
Tenino (on the Bountiful Byway) 639 Lincoln Ave E, Tenino, WA 98589
We discovered Don Juan’s while exploring the Thurston County Bountiful Byway. The gaucomole is second to none. We could eat a big bowl just by itself! The other dishes such as the wet burrito are also delicious to the last bite.
The location makes it the perfect stop for lunch while travling the Bountiful Byway.
In 2024, the owners opened the Tumwater Taco Company, in the Craft Brewing District, right on the border of Olympia and Tumwater. If you are not up for the drive to Tenino but want the “gauc”, this will satisfy.
