Support Small Business Series
The Swantown Inn is a small Mom and Pop, family owned business. In this series of blog posts we want to highlight other small businesses. Some we frequent often, some less so, but if there is a choice between a chain and a local option we almost always go for the local.
Mi Luna – Cuban Cafe
You innkeepers don’t just recommend restaurants willy-nilly, we actually make it a point to visit them so we know you’re likely to have a great experience. We visited Mi Luna last minute for our 19th wedding anniversary. Open now for just a little over a month, and they are doing great things. Nathan was not sure he was going to find anything on their menu that appealed but ordered Ropa Veija, and was blown away. Casey ordered a special they had of prawns in the most delicious sauce. Neither disappointed, service was friendly and quick, from the moment I called to see if they could squeeze us in, all the way through our desserts; the Abuela’s cheesecake and Coconut Flan. They have updated the building; it is casual but elegant, bright, and hopping. We thought it was busy when we arrived, but it just got busier as our meal progressed. No notes, just all the praise. I loved that all their dishes (the plates, bowls, etc)all seemed thrifted and each one unique, though I did wonder how they managed to store them all!
